Barbara Valentine is an artist that has contributed a significant amount of time and effort to the Kenneth Mason Waugh Nonprofit Inc. mission. Barbara participated in the production of 41 gallons of pure maple syrup with Ken Waugh and maintained multiple vegetable gardens during the growing season at Ken’s family farm. After Ken passed away Barbara continued to maintain a garden at Ashland Farm. Ashland farm is adjacent to the Waugh family farm and has been in the same family since 1730,nine generations.
Barbara came to Worcester, Massachusetts in November 1969. Married in June of that year she had only been out of her home in New Bern, North Carolina once before. At seventeen Barbara ventured to Birmingham, Alabama in September of 1968 and was their only a week before her parents retrieved her. New Bern North Carolina is situated about 15 miles from the marine base at Cherry Point and that is where she meet Pete Valentine. Barbara has three grown children,and her first child is a retied Air Force veteran. Barbara’s farther served in world war two as a marine and retired as a procurement official for the U.S. government.
